GAO VANG (SHE/HER) MSW, LICSW
As a psychotherapist, Gao believes people come from all walks of life where challenges have created various experiences and perspectives, and sometimes support is needed to strive for increased resiliency. Gao is a bilingual (Hmong and English) clinician who draws from various evidenced-based interventions including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), CBT, DBT, mindfulness and psychoeducation to develop skills and insight. She appreciates working with a diverse group of clients, especially working within the St. Paul Hmong community, where she was raised. She has 9+ years working with individuals who are diagnosed with co-occurring disorders, including but not limited to numerous levels of trauma, chemical dependency, medical health conditions, and other psychiatric diagnoses. Her experience includes providing direct services in various settings to clients of all ages, genders, sexual orientations, including clients from Southeast Asian populations and other cultural linguistic and ethnic groups. Gao uses an integrative and holistic approach that allows clients and communities to achieve healing and harmony.
Transforming Mental Healthcare
My practice specializes in psychotherapy, offering evidence-based treatments for trauma, anxiety, and depression. I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.), a technique that helps the brain quickly process and resolve distressing memories, and Brainspotting, which targets deep emotional and neurological healing by accessing the brain’s natural processing abilities. These modalities, combined with traditional talk therapy, provide a comprehensive approach to mental health care. Whether you're struggling with past trauma, anxiety, or depression, let’s create a safe, supportive space to help you heal and build resilience.
What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a type of therapy where you talk to a trained therapist to understand and manage your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It’s a safe space to work through emotional struggles, mental health issues, and personal challenges. Through therapy, you’ll develop healthier coping strategies, reduce stress and anxiety, heal from trauma, and improve relationships. If you’re facing emotional or mental health challenges, psychotherapy can provide the support you need.
